Made for Your Majesty

If you had to choose your last meal on earth, what would it be?
For many, the answer is simple: Biryani.

But what is Biryani, really?
It is a dish layered with memory, mastery, and meaning. A symphony of taste, time, and technique. A dish that has adorned the dinner tables of humble homes and royal courts alike.

Handed down through generations, biryani is food that is sealed and slow-cooked to perfection. A dish so elaborate, it could have easily been lost to time — and yet, it has endured, evolved, and is still deeply loved to this day.

From Asia to Europe, every version carries its own rhythm, ritual, and roots.
Biryani isn’t just food. It is heritage on a plate.

At DUM, our aim is to bring biryani to parts of the world where it is yet to be known — to bring its stories, tastes, and experiences to your home. To serve the finest versions: those passed down through families, forged in royal kitchens, and perfected over time — with no shortcuts and no compromise to the heritage.

We believe that the very existence of biryani is a miracle in itself.
We don’t claim to have invented biryani.
We simply exist to protect it — and to help you discover it.

So, for those who already love biryani — and those about to — welcome to DUM.

Dum Events

Dum Events bring our craft to the world — pop-ups, festivals, collaborations, and one-night feasts designed to celebrate slow food in new spaces.

From street corners to secret courtyards, every Dum Event carries the same soul: stories shared, flavours built with care, and rituals that turn a meal into a memory.

We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all. Each event is tailored — menus evolve, settings shift, and surprises are always part of the plan.

You’ll find us where the food is bold, the mood is warm, and the experience is unforgettable.

Dum Loves. Issue XIV.

We’re heading into March as we mean to go on: filling our eyes, ears and bellies courtesy of many talented creators in the South Asian community. Whether you’re in the mood for stirring music or a contemplative read, we hope you find something you enjoy.

Dum's Cheese & Masala Sticks Recipe

The month of Ramadan may be a period of fasting but it’s equally synonymous with feasting. Iftar – the evening meal with which Muslims break their fast – is an occasion for eating favourite dishes and indulging in the naughtiness of moreish snacks after a day of abstaining, and these cheese-and-pastry twirls make the perfect snack.

The Ritual of Zakat

Compassion. Generosity. Discipline. Honesty. Selflessness. Tolerance. These principles lie at the heart of Islam. Our Muslim brothers and sisters are bound to give, share and take care of others.

Celebrate Iftar with Dum

The holy month of Ramadan is upon us, when Muslims around the world fast daily from dawn till dusk. It is a time of private worship and spiritual discipline, but also of shared joy and abundant feasting. Families and communities come together at suhoor, the pre-dawn meal, and at iftar, the evening meal, to break their fasts with copious, delicious dishes. Join us on 7th April for our own Iftar celebration – for an evening of feasting and live music.
